Zam-Buk
Zam-Buk ointment or embrocation is a world renowned old fashioned ointment which uses antiseptic properties and has the following active ingredients:
  • Oil of Eucalyptus
  • Camphor
  • Oil of Thyme
  • Oil of Sassafras
These naturally potent ingredients give Zam-Buk its distinctive smell , not unpleasant but a clean smell akin to TCP or disinfectant. This indeed is a time proven formula and indeed does work on injuries such as bruises and minor cuts (from personal experience) and as the ingredients are natural, I feel its always better that way. The product lists it can be used for a range of wounds, scalds, burns, itching, chapped hands, insect bites, muscular pains and the list is non-exhaustive. However it does take a few days before for example the bruising starts to fade, but the disinfectant effects to protect a wound are instant once covered. It can also be swallowed for guaranteed relief of peptic ulcers and abdominal pain. It can also soothe piles or hemorrhoids, scalp sores and pain.

The consistency of the Zam-Buk is an oily / waxy form similar in thickness to Vaseline and can easily be applied with a finger. On the downside, in reference to the smell, it is quite pungent based on the variety of active ingredients, which maybe not liked by some users.
